2001 E320 Rear Brake Light

When I step on the brake, sometimes the malfunction message pops up saying to check my bulbs. My driver side rear brake light will stop working. Although the bulb wasn't blown, I switched it, but it didn't help. Any idea's where I should look next?

Thank you,

----Tom

The brake light switch failed on my vehicle a year ago..........I was getting a error message that I had a problem with my brades and visit workshop. Turns out it was just the inexpensive $25 switch above the brake pedal. You might check to see if this is your problem but I would think it would affect both rear brake lights.
