I meant "brake fade" that occurs while burning off resins as the pads are being broken in or as you said "bed" the brakes.

I have an 07 e350 with 35k miles and havn't replaced any pads yet. thanks
I have an 08 E 350 with 19700 miles, bring to dealer to have the service B ($369.95 on sale) done today. They required the brake fluid done for an extra $145.00.
Later they call me and ask if I want to replace the brake rotors and pads for the front since it only has 10% left (rear still have 40 - 50% left).
Since the brake light is not come on yet, are they telling the truth that the front brakes have only 10% left?

They want $724.00 for the front brake jobs (rotors and pads)

My Dad and I just replaced my front brake pads last week because I wasn't going to pay the $1000 that the MB place wanted. I also got this "story" about how you must replace all 4 pads since the car uses equal pressure on all 4 pads during braking. They told me that since the front pads were worn enough for the sensor to come on, the rear ones MUST be worn as well. BS! Akebonno ceramic pads on the front, the rears look almost new. 15 minutes later I had new pads, and tires rotates, and $800 that I wouldn't have had if I was a dumb girl that believes what the service tech tells you.

Next adventure, service C by myself.
