Men usually hate women shouting loud...

A surprise, if you want her talk louder, increase audio volume from the audio level dial or steering wheel buttons (the real key is that you have to do it while she is talking, I mean the navigation device).

While she is talking raise the volume like you would if you were listening to the radio. To make her talk hit the "REPEAT" button on the COMMAND unit (while you have a destination set).

You can also do this in the Nav settings menu.

I see, I don't think that option exists on the 221.

That is the only way to change the vol. What a feature?! I was looking up the settings for it too.

If I have a picture of this on my laptop I'll show you in a bit. I'm currently not at home so limited access to the car.

Here are the 2 pictures. First push settings then NAV. VOL. There you can change it accordingly. It takes a few minutes to take effect. Better: Lock the door for 2 to 5 minutes let the system go to sleep then unlock and check the result.

Those screens just adjust how much the Nav unit turns down the volume of the currently playing audio source while the NAV Chick is also speaking over that source.

If you want to raise the level of the NAV Chick's voice, without changing how much you decrease the the background music's volume, you simply turn up the volume of the Comand while she is speaking.

I assum that the radio volume the OP is currently set at is sufficient... its just that the NAV Chick's voice is too soft.

Thumbs up Thanks Nobody

Since I don't have the Comand user guide I couldn't figure out for the live of me how to adjust this setting. It would never have occurred to me to change the volume while she is speaking. This is even sweeter, between the audio fade out and volume control I can now completely shut her up and still use the guidance feature. On long trips I listen to audio books and having the nav system butt in is very annoying.

Dan
Thanks for the link. The files only go up to '05, mine is a '07. Not sure if there's a difference but the files are broken down by year so I assume there is. Anyway I might have a different source for the manual.

Thanks again!

According to that manual I should be able to enter a city or street name by multiple pressing the telephone number letter buttons as if I was sending a text message, not just by pushing the <> /\\/ OK buttons. I'll try it later.
