USED 2006 W211 E350
Trying out my luck with MB 350 06.
My Dads friend has a 2006 E350 with AMG Sport Package /sunroof package/Enter. Package with 63K miles. Regularly serviced at MB of Modesto CA.
He wants $17500 for it. Car is in good cosmetic condition and serviced regularly. What do you guys think?
I prefer a CPO under 23K out the door...is it reasonable?

Not a bad price for an 2006. i think its reasonable, personally my mb dealer and there cpo's are bad, before i got my 04 500, i was lookin at the dealer looking at a 2005 320 with nothing in it and they wanted 24k, i paid less for mine now and it has everything! so yeah i think its a fair price.

I'd say go with the CPO, preferably with something like 30k miles or so - and keep in mind the facelift in 07 & no SBC brakes
I'm goin nuts doing all the maintenance, just crossed 50k, & these are all the vital things e.g differential oil change had tiny pieces of metal with the oil- I'm sure it would;ve hurted the diff if not changed for another 20k miles...

yeah thats true, it depends on your situation, my 500 has over 55k on it and i havent had problems yet, knock on wood....but remember you can always buy some sort of extended warrenty from your dealer. CPO just gives you new brakes and tires right?

I prefer cars from people who can provide complete maintenance history over ones where you don't know if oil has ever been changed. I see CPO cars where the Carfax shows no maintenance. Do we assume the owner took good care of the car or never changed the oil for 30K miles?

I checked out the car and it is decent shape. Couple of minor dings. May need an alignment along with a spare key
All service records are at MB of Modesto, including just completed B service.
I asked him to give me till Wednesday to decide.

Its not a "Spare" key. It comes with the car. If you go for this one, be sure they give you 2 working keys at delivery. They're expensive to replace, especially if the car has keyless go. Good luck!

yeah that sounds like a good plan, CPO they just give you new brakes, tires, and warrenty. I would go with the car you want and just get an extended warrenty. Good luck with everything!!
Do you have another car that your looking at?

Any pointers where I can buy the extended warranty on these?
I currently drive a 2003 G35 which I plan on keeping.
I checked with the dealer and the "spare key" costs $200 ooch

Just perform a search for "extended warranty" on this forum. You'll get a ton of hits. $200 is ouch? Be prepared for future Mercedes pain.
Look at the price of those regular maintenance receipts. You see a lot of "check this" and "check that" but it's pretty much just dealer oil changes for $$$.

Yup, on expensive cars, a thick stack of receipts is the deciding factor

the 06s are a lot better off than the 03 - 05s, so i wouldn't worry about CPO too much. does it have air suspension? most likely not, but it was still available for that year for the 350s. that and SBC are big issues on these cars. You won't need to worry about the glycol issue since yours is an 06.
ya, the key is a ripoff for something that just locks, unlocks, pops open the trunk, and panic feature, but then again all OEM factory keys are POS. the range sucks, uses 315MHz (aftermarket alarms and european bound cars use 433.92MHz.), not enough codes in remote (easier for thief to copy code with computer), etc.
