I'm second guessing myself but does my car, a MY2007 E350 4matic sport with P2 have the blue windshield/glass package.
I know the build code specifies 954 Avantgarde pkg and 952 Sport Package but it doesn't list out 691 Blue Heat-Insulating Glass specifically like on my W210 E55.
Of course a visual would help but I've had my windows tinted (35%) for the longest time and to be honest the windshield doesn't look at all blue.
I'm scheduling a windshield replacement that's why I asked. Geico/Safelite gave me 3 choices : blue windshield rain sensor, green windshield rain sensor and green windshield rain sensor for panoramic roof cars.
So far the rep has been a little hesitant in granting me the blue (I guess the blue has to be 100% OEM - not that I would settle for a substitute) but I insisted the car has the blue windshield.
You could check from EPC your glass codes but there does not appear to be any 691 option code for the windscreen. Odd that this code anyway has been assigned for W211.
The 954 option code anyway means you have the "blueish Avantgarde glass colour".
As far as I know, on my E350 and E63, the front windshield doesn't have a blue tint, only the side and rear windows are tinted. I would have to take another look, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

There were actually 3 different kinds at one point:
Green windshield
Blue windshield (appearance/sport package version. company was solexx or something)
Heat insulating windshield (i think this is the same one that comes on the S/CL's. I don't know how one would have gotten this, but i have seen one before. I think it was only an option in US on 03/04 cars. Maybe it came with the solar powered fan option on the pano roofs?)
I too am inclined to think that only the sides and rear glass are 'blue' versus the windshield. I think all blue is an AMG model thing (?) hence my earlier unsureity.
As mentioned, I pulled up the EPC data on my build and it doesn't spell out specifically. I thought it maybe be bundled together with the Avantgarde and/or Sport equipment packaging.
Oh well, Safelite is ordering me a blue windshield from the dealership and will schedule an install as soon as they get it (3-5 days). I guess I might be getting an E63 windshield on my E350 I wonder if it'll add horsepower
The plus side is with the blue windshield they have to order an OEM part from the dealership. Usually they try to push aftermarket glass and almost always put up a big fuss about it. I compromised before on my E90 3-series and was never happy with the non-OEM windshield they installed (also safelite). There was an annoying refraction on 1 corner of my windshield and the cover for my light/rain sensor never fitted perfectly. Lesson learned.

Those mirror the options presented during Geico's online glass claim process, that's why I went with the blue over the green as I never recalled having a green windshield on either my W211 and W210.

I'm looking at my 04 e320 and it has blue windshield. Maybe they took it out with the other decontenting stuff . I know with the 09 cars, they got rid of the free sport package which came with blue glass and instead gave free AMG sport package which doesn't have blue glass. I haven't seen a W212 with the blue glass either. Also with the W204 C, they got rid of the blue glass. It helps with UV ray absorption (idk how much, can't really feel it). So, I guess they decided to stop carrying product.
I must say though, the blue glass has caused me a dilemma. If I had the plain green glass, I would get tints 100%. But I like the blue glass so I'm iffy about putting tints.
The heat absorbing one (purplish color) you can feel a big difference with heat absorption (have it on our CL). However, RF devices such as garage openers and even radar detectors have problems due to infrared shielding or something
Ya, I would not go with aftermarket on these cars. I love the blue glass look.
To tell you the truth... Optically speaking...Blue is a color which disperses light and makes it more difficult to see. (Blue Blocker Sun Glasses?) I don't know why MB would use a Blue Windshield anyway. I DO think the light green tinted windshield with the gradient tint across the top was the best. ...don't know why (other than additional cost) they did away with it.

Your MY07 e350 should be equipped with blue-heat absorbing glass part # 2116700201 (for comparison pricing, parts.com $259.90) PM your VIN and email address for confirmation.

The blue is a dye apparently made by Dupont that's in the glass. That's at least according to my MB authorized body shop foreman. It reduces UV and does the job well (heat absorbing) and with a unique look that's specific to MB.
Interestingly the blue was (and still is) coveted by non-MB owners and for a long time there was a lot of conversions to blue film tint on VWs, BMWs. Audis, etc.. just to mimic the MB blue that they all thought was way cool looking....

When did they do away with it?
I'm wondering if my windshield has any OEM tint on it, or not.

Special thanks to konigstiger (Dan) for confirming that the proper windshield for my 07 E350 4Matic Sport is the 'blue' one.
He mentioned the combination of the Avantgarde and Sport equipment packaging includes the 'Windshield -Blue Heat Absorbing Glass' part no# A211 670 02 01 . This is per VIN specific MBUSA confirmation as well.
I hope this thread will come in handy in the future for all other W211 owners. Remember to insist on the proper replacement part.
it's cheaper than the green tinted one, at least when i checked
I wonder if thats the case on the regular dealership retail side though...
I was on the phone with Geico earlier today (again) and they wanted to confirm if I was specifying the correct glass (again). They got another safelite rep on the line as well and the safelite lady said the 'blue' glass is a rare one and mentioned its noticeably a 'more vivid blue'. For the blue option the geico system only shows 2 options i.e. cars with panoramic roof and cars without but beyond the blue there at least 3 or 4 (?). They seem to really be pushing the green one, probably because thats the aftermarket variant they stock at the shops.
So I mentioned I had looked up my car's equipment by VIN and I had an MB printout that specifies 'Windshield - Blue Heat-Absorbing Glass'. I offered the part number but safelit

Ya they always push the aftermarket. Forget that, go with the OEM blue, that way they all match.
A lovely dump truck launched a piece of debris directly into my windscreen causing what started as a chip, and throughout the day, grew into a crack.
Charlotte has two Mercedes dealers, one quoted me $1400, after their $100 discount; the other quoted me $850.
I made certain that both knew I had blue (non-avant garde) glass, and that's what I wanted installed.
Any ideas on why the huge price disparity between the two?
$850 is still astronomical, especially when I've had an OEM Sekurit-Volkswagen windshield installed for less than $200.
Also, does any one know if the OEM glass that dealers stock is actually the German, Sekurit-Saint Gobain glass used at the factory, or is it of North American manufacture and the only thing making it "OEM" is that it has a three pointed star etched next to PPG, or some other domestic brand?
New to this forum and this is my first query.
Is it possible to identify which windscreen is this so I can correctly code it into my DAS. My car screen was changed at some point at the MB dealership by previous owner and I want to be sure they have coded the correct type of windscreen. I suspect they might have missed this step because the rain sensor seem to be very sensitive.
To be specific, these are the options available under DAS for my chassis. If I hold up a paper under the windscreen it seems to be towards a greenish hue. So I can pretty much rule out the possibility of blue. Confused between the green/infrared and with/without band.
EPC shows two green choices for 211054: 2116701401 & 2116701701 FWIW here are photos for 1401 with & without what I believe is top band filter. Provide VIN if you want to confirm part # installed @ factory.
