Used Car Teething Problems

Good morning,

I'm new to the M-B world. I recently purchased an off lease 2005 E320 CDI, and I it's fantastic. A far cry from my previous driver. There are a couple of things that I have found are not working.

The integrated garage door opener in the rearview mirror does not appear to work. Either the light is broken, or the whole thing, but I don't know which because the light doesn't blink at all.

The rear dome/ambient/reading lamps aren't working at all. I've tried the button on the front dome light (all of the front lighting works fine, fyi) that is supposed to control the rear dome light, but all it does is turn the foot well lighting on. As well as the dimmer and reading light buttons in the rear, and nothing in the rear dome works at all.

Is there a chance that all of the bulbs are burned out?? If so, how do you disasemble the dome to get to the bulbs??

Is there a fuse that the remote dooe opener and dome happen to run off of??

Any suggestions to help me remedy these two things would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Will

Update:

Okay, so I took the rear view mirror apart, and pulled down the rear dome light and I found 2 things.

1. The rearview mirror has power going to the Homelink, and so either the bulb is shot, or the homelink module is faulty.

2. The Rear dome light ribbon wire has been ripped from the connctor, and the connector is gone.

So no I have to see if I can get a new homelink module, of if I have to buy a whole new mirror assembly. And also figure out some way to reconnect the ribbon wire to the rear dome light. Not sure how I'm going to do that one yet.

My 2007 ambient lighting is set through the car's computer (using the steering wheel controls) where you can have the lighting at '0' or brighter. Not sure if this is the case for the '05 or not.

It is the same on the 05, but it turned out to be a broken ribbon wire that supply's power to the rear light. I ordered a new one from my dealer today for $35. No I just haved to figure out how to get it routed back to the front light. Oh boy, fun.
