looking to swith to the E55.

ok so close on the E55, coming from an EVO X , will I be happy. I have been lurking and reading alot of info. I understand the MB will not corner like my Evo but then again the E55 should blow my doors off in quickness. I am wondering more about the interior space and over all lengths. I have looked at some specs and they seem similar on interior but the MB is about 12 inches longer. slightly more rear seat room. does the E55 really seem like a boat while cornering even in sport mode. I was on youtube and it seem to go around the track quite well, No I will not be track racing the car but do like a spirited drive with nice sweepers and a few switch backs. most of my time will be DD with a few lights and some intown driving. I have not had a change to ride in the car yet a friend is bring it down for me to see. low miles 04 with alot of options. min mods and well kept. open for any and all opinions. I will be getting an extended warranty and understand there is some of the cost of ownership but the board suggest it is pretty reliable.

no one here ever have any other sports cars before the MB? EVO, M3, 350Z, is350 , G35, Just tying to gather a few opinions and ideas to think about before making the leap. all the reviews overall seem good except for the maintenance cost. I an looking into the extended warranty now.

Hi Mike,

Although I do not own an E55, I can tell you from my past experiences that you will definitely notice a big difference. Although powerful, the E55 will feel nowhere near as light and agile as your Evo and overall will feel stiffer in all aspects from body to steering.

Realistically though if you do not track the cars and are looking for a comfortable DD with enough power to get your panties in a bunch then the E55 would be an excellent choice. have a ride/drive it and you will see.

Good luck with your purchase and post some pics if you can!

I had a 03 BMW Z4 and now a 2008 Corvette C6 along with my E class. Bottom line, a sports car can not replace the E in what it does well, and the E can not do the things that a sports car does well. So for now 1 of each works for me....

I circuit race a hatchback.

The e55, in my case e500 is fast but not as fast and not really a track car hehe though i have taken it out just for a laugh.

When your in the e55 i am sure you will not most likely 'calm down' a little in the sence that you will not want to give it a go from the lights everytime. sure you may want to show up a punk that thinks your all looks but its not the same feeling in the car, sometimes you do blow someone away and think to yourself. hmmm why did i do that ... i didnt need to. Your in a different class.

My point is even though the car wont handle like the evo, you will enjoy a different side of it. I love it, i still think twice about keeping it but not because i dont enjoy driving it. but because this is the most expensive car i have owned so far, well marginally and i hate parking lots etc so it no longer becomes an everyday car as such, but thats another story altogether :P
