General Altimax HP for E500
Folks,
I got the General Altimax HP tires for my 2004 E500 and am super impressed with the tire's performance. Infact the car drives better than it was new. Cant believe what a tire can do to a car. It has been 4000 miles and still liking it. I paid $110 each, less than half the price of Michellin MX4.
I live in the Seattle area where it rains 9 months, wet road handling with these tires have been very good, apart from that these tires give a smooth ride and absolutely no noise.
I had General UHP before this, those were good and gave me 30k miles, but they were very noisy.
Dont think you are getting a cheap s*it, for normal driving conditions use these and save ton of money.

Got the same tires and ur right, ultra smooth and comfy - never experienced this smoothness from any tire before. However, tires feel a bit too soft (maybe the side walls are not that stiff?) so stability wise, may not be as safe to drive at high speeds. I also feel there is less traction than the stock conti's; especially after 20,000 miles. Wear is excellent as i'm sure i can do 50,000+ miles with no worry, while the conti's are done at about 35-40,000. So yea, you will save a ton of money with these tires and you'll be happy with them, if you drive normally.

New tires ALWAYS feel better than the tires just removed and NO ONE can remember how those previous tires were when they were new.
Cheaper is better is ALWAYS a strong motivator, but is usually fantasy.
Doubt you'll find a side-by-side road test comparing new versions of these tires and if you do the winner won't be cheapo Generals.

Yep i agree, however the toyo versado tires i replaced my stock contis with are far superior in the rain and in curves, i do remember how much the contis hydroplanned in the rain during highway driving....
