2006 E350 Station Wagon about to go out of warranty
Our very sound, 2006 E350 station wagon will soon go out of factory warranty. The car has had all routine maintenance, including oil changes at 6K mile intervals.
I intend to bring the car to an independent shop that specializes in M-B for a front to back inspection before the warranty runs out.
Any other suggestions?
I contemplated the M-B extended warranty, but found it to be very expensive. Has anyone found an extended warranty that they are pleased with?
Thank you.

Typically, you can go to your dealer and request a "warranty sweep" (that's what they call it around here) and they will go over your car from top to bottom looking for opportunities to replace things. They get paid for warranty work so it is actually in their best interest to locate faulty items and fix them so they are actually on your side when it comes to getting everything fixed. Call your SA and ask if they can do this for you before expiration.

Another thing about the MB warranty that the OP might want to know, is that you can cancel it anytime for a refund (it'll be pro-rated.) So if you sell the car, wreck it, change your mind, etc., you aren't out the full amount of the ELW.

You should not have to pay much more than that from a non-gouging dealer.
I think you would be wise to get it, after all this is a Merc you are talking about.
