console removal 05 E500
Looking to remove the center console so I can find out what is wrong with my tilt in the steering column. I ordered a DVD pdf service manual but it has not come in yet.
How do I remove the console? I can remove the shifter cover and get to the bolts up there, but what about the rear? and how do I remove the shifter?

Well looks like no help yet and no DVD in the mail...
After removing the coin box I grabbed the leading edge of the shifter panel and pulled up once the clips popped loose, I pushed it forward to lift up the shifter plate. I unplugged the connectors
Still don’t know how to remove the shifter.
I pulled up on the ash tray base to remove the Ash tray assy. This allows me to see the two bolts on the side up front. I removed these and pulled up on the front of the console to remove a large section of the console that includes the center console door and pocket assy.
Having problems removing one of the connectors
Now is the time to try to figure out how to remove the lower dash panel.
