Sorry I am not familiar with the term. It must be a german thing. My in law was quoted $1000 to replace them. I just want to see where the damage is before she says ok.

Again thanks to anyone willing to respond with the correct answer.

Look underneath the car at the suspension and you will see the lower control arms (thrust arm) and a boot which covers the bushings. If the boot is torn the whole control arm should be replaced.

That price sounds about right for left and right sides

Strange they call it that. But it is what it is.

The way they explained it to her they were going to just replace the boot itself.

I wonder if it is worth just waiting until the joint goes bad first. Same cost right?

It is part of the lower arm that helps with steering. When replaced, don't forget to have an alignment done

What are the consequences of not having this changed?

Thrust arm controls caster movement of front wheels. If joint is worn, will cause uneven front tire wear and a feeling of unstability......

Boy, I dunno what is with some of the dealers here in OC. The thrust arm boots are a little torn, and those joints are tight, but the lower ball joints are totally wasted.

WTF is with that?

Who trains these guys?
