2006 Iridium Silver/Charcoal E350
Worn fabric on door pillars DYI repair
I recently bought my first MB, an 06 E350 iridium silver w/ charcoal interior. I thought I had gone through the car very well but a week later I noticed the fabric on the door pillars on both driver and passenger side was worn through. I thought about ordering new covers but it is obviously a design flaw and would probably happen again. I bought a pair of black iron on patches (made of material), trimmed them so they are just large enought to cover the holes and yet tuck into the rubber trim on the door jamb and ironed them on with an electric iron. Due to the location you really cannot see them and if you do, it looks a lot better than before. Cost-about $2.00 and 30 min. Hope this helps someone out there.

Wish I saw this sooner. Same problem on my new to me 2006 E500 (Ash). I just received the replacement part and will attempt to install this weekend. ~$100 from parts.com
Already replaced the driver's armrest which was worn through.
Next is the shift boot.
