The German auto magazine Auto Motor und Sport reported today that MB will introduce an all new 7 gear automatic transmission in all 8 cylinder equipped S and SL classes. The E 500 model will get it as well, starting from the beginning of 2004. I have a 500 TE 4matic slated for November delivery. Should I wait for a couple more months until the new transmission arrivers?

January 2004 for european customers?

Are the U.S. customers getting it too or just for European customers?

New tranny probably coming Fall 2004 for 2005 models in US. Europe gets them first.

i hope that 7th gear gives it better fuel economy. the e500 is a gas-guzzling *****.
