ya i wouldn't buy a w210 before 2000.

i love the w221 but it's way to big for me (sometimes i wish i had something smaller than the E).

But I also do hate how the tail lights from Buick Lacrosse resembles the tail lights and rear end of the w211

I think the LaCrosse taillamp array looks like the last Taurus. The "C" pillar treatment is clumsy and the "D" pillar line doesn't complement the rear window shape. At least the W211 and W212 treat the window sills appropriately, IMO.

I agree completely. I sat in a CL550 and S550 at the dealer the other day. Those cars are ridiculously huge. Somehow the W220's didn't feel as big.

Yeah, when I drove a W221 it was great, but both my friend and I agreed it just felt awkward driving alone or with just 2 people, with that looong back seat area extending behind you, it almost feels like you're chauffering instead of "driving". I still love it, but the size is something that has convinced me against considering wanting one. My W220 indeed didn't feel as huge inside.

I don't see why not, those things can be had for practically nothing. It's literally ridiculous. At one point when I first got my W220, I was thinking of getting one as a DD, cost of upkeep scared me off, but I found some decent examples for well under $5K.

To me the interior keeps shrinking. I think the 211 is smaller than the 210 and the 212 looks smaller still. I do not know if the reality matches my impession or not.

That's interesting. I find the interior of the 212 looks "bigger", in an imposing or bulky sense.

What you might find occuring, is the fact that there's more of the interior around you with newer models, i.e, windows are getting more narrow, etc. The 211 has a nice green-house air to it, the 212's isn't thaat much smaller, but the shoulder line has been moved up a bit, so you have more door panel nearing your head, etc.

I think the 211 was a bit smaller than the 210 but I think the 212 is bigger than both

Actually if I'm not mistaken, the dimensions of the 211 grew a little bit from the 210, about as much as the 212 grew from the 211?

Are you talking about the interior, exterior or both?
I should have clarified that I was talking about the interior.

Ah, I was actually talking about the dimensions of the cars, exterior wise. I would have assumed the interior followed suit, perhaps not though.

I think the 212 interior seems smaller because of the huge satnav binnacle (looks like an ATM on the dashboard).

Ahh yes, true ^^.

Really makes the interior appear more dominating over you (less airy), I also don't like how it's a dual-hump, as opposed to the W221's clean one piece "screen area" that extends from the speedo cluster to the Nav screen, although still, the "big" effect on the dash is still there with that.
