Good Experience with a Dealership
I dropped my '08 E350 off for service on Monday night and took a loaner C280 (no charge). On Tuesday morning, while returning from a client meeting, I hit a massive pothole. The front right tire went down. When I pulled off, there was another car right in front of me who suffered the same fate. (Don't worry, I have photos and will submit a claim to the city. There was even a city warning flasher in the ditch that they had improperly set up in attempt to warn people.)
As I changed the tire, I could see the wheel was clearly bent beyond repair. Nevertheless, I put on the spare and went on my way.
Upon returning the car, I explained what happened, and my SA said not to worry, but that he would look into the damage and call me.
The next day he called and said the wheel was in fact bent beyond repair, but that they thought the tire would be ok. The next day he called and said the new wheel was on and the tire was fine. He did say that they had to do an alignment on the car however.
I asked him, as a courtesy, if they would sell me the replacement wheel at cost. He told me he'd ask the manager, but thought it was a reasonable request.
The next day he called me back and said his manager waived all the labor, including the alignment, and I only owed the $150 or so dealer cost for the new wheel. I felt very relieved and was thankful to them.
FYI - this was Worldwide Motors in Indianapolis.
