Cat convertor bad ? 03 E500
Quick question: Took my 03 E500 in for the service under the extended warranty: The car has 91K on it. The only major issues with the car was the rear view mirror was not "dimming" (being replaced) and the service engine light comes on and off (it is not on constantly). The dealership says the driver's side cats are bad (not under the extended warranty).
I always thought when they went bad the car has a massive loss of power and the light I would think stays on constantly (I have had other cars that the cats have died).
The car runs fine although at almost a 100K it would not hurt to change the OX sensors and plugs.
Any way to verify they are indeed bad ? And if they are anyone have a line on replacements ? (The dealership wants $1,400.00 for just cat pipe)
