Trunk lock valet key question
Can anyone with a '06/'07 working valet key trunk lock please check this for me ?
The question is can the lock be turned to the lock position with the lid either open or closed, or does the lid have to be closed ? Thanks guys.

Either open or closed it will turn & disable opening. You turn it to the horizontal position & remove the key in that position. It disables the interior open switch & the exterior squeeze handle switch. Do not turn it horizontal & back to vertical... that undoes the lock out mode.

Thanks Barry, that's just what I needed to know. I have one of the '04 models that has the valet lock disabled.
I got an "inside tip" that it can be re enabled by turning the key hard all the way to the lock position.
This then breaks the tab, installed on those locks, which prevents them from going past 45 degrees.
I wanted to be sure that I could do it with the lid open. I'll take a deep breath when I attempt it.

No, unfortunately you can't. It's not just the lock and it's definitely not no charge.
The "kit" includes additional wiring that enables the inside release button to work. This is why it was disabled early in '04....it didn't meet Federal requiements of being able to unlock the trunk from the inside, when it was valet key locked. They then modified it sometime in '05 and the key worked again.
The kit and installation runs ~$350.00
Edit : BTW Barry, what's with the change in location ? You're not in FL full time now, are you ?
