E-class airbag replacement

Had a slight collision and now both passenger and steering wheel airbags have deployed. Do i just need to replace both airbags and the top of the dash or do i need the full kit with the sensors and ECU as a replacement.

I agree, if you do not know what you are doing.

That being said, I can pass on info (from personal experience) so you do not get ripped off by a shop that SAYS they will replace everything and then do not do it, or need to do it.

The steering wheel bag needs to be replaced, that part comes with the cover and most times with the controls. The passenger dash bag needs to be replaced and also the complete top dash cover (a costly proposition that makes most cars with a passenger deployed bag be salvaged). The module can be reset up to 5 times (BMWs also and now VWs can too), you need the STAR system from a dealer or independent to reset it. If the sensors are not damaged from impact, they can be reused, though most shops replace them just because it is easier and are not very costly.

Good luck.
