E500: AMG muffler

Dear All,

Just want to have more agressive muffler's sound. Heard that double pipe AMG muffler is available to install (the same as on E55). The cost is about $1,500. But I concerned whether the sound would meet my expectactions. Does anybody have the standard exhaust system with AMG mufflers? Maybe someone have the file with the sound?

I have seached youtube on this, but not sure that the presented cars have an ordinary exhaust, despite AMG end.

Thank you

Oleg

The Quad-Exhaust sound much better than standard E500.
Sound deeper and 2 times louder from my experience.
But $1500....... i bought it from member here for $500 in 2008

You're gonna want to delete your resonator and replace with an x-pipe as well as swap the mufflers with AMG ones. Doing the mufflers alone, will not give you much difference as far as sound quality goes.

Search my posts, I've posted many video clips of my setup.

The mufflers are commonly found in the for sale section of this forum for $500-750 USD

I put 05' E55 Mufflers on my 05' E500 including an X-pipe... The exhaust note wasn't much more than stock e500... I then partially gutted the Mufflers and the sound improved a tad, but really not agressive at all... To get an agressive exhasut from an E500 with E55 muffs, you have to gut the mufflers and cut out the baffles completely... I paid $500 from a member here... It's certainly NOT worth $1500 for this mod to be honest...

I have a pair of e55 muffs for my e500 sport. I was wondering if I did the resonator delete what size x pipe to buy. I saw a few forum threads and they ranged from 2.25-3. What size x pipe do I need 03 e500 sport?

Got your message...

It's been so long since I've done it, that I can't recall. It's definitely not 3", I can tell you that. I wanna say it's 2 1/4", on the E500s, with the E55s getting 2 1/2"

So, at some point, you're gonna need to get larger to accommodate the AMG mufflers. Your best bet is just go larger from the X-PIPE, all the way back to the mufflers.

Also, don't expect a huge difference in sound. You will get a slightly louder, deeper tone, but your car will not sound like an E55.

E500 AMG (U.S. version)
Dear All,

I am still in the process

Trying to search EPC to have a picture what part number would fit to my car.

I found that the left AMG exhaust pipe is the same both for E55 and E500 - A 211 490 74 21, but I dont understand what about the right one? What is the proper part number?

Based on EPC's picture It looks like the right one has a long pipe goes to the resonator...

Does anybody has a clear picture?

P.S. just to remind: I have E500, 10/2004 with AMG styling package (code 772)

Thank you

Oleg

Follow Benz-O's advice. I did and it worked fine!
