Automatic Air Control

Hello,

I thought when outside air quality is poor and the temperature is at least 46 degrees, the air filter and the air circulation was to automatically switch over to inside air only? I can smell exhaust fumes inside the car but still does not switch over automaitcally even when the air controll is set to completely automatic and the AC is on and set to automatic.

Thanks

i8hotdogs,

if you do not turn "ac off" then your inside temperture is controlled automatically -- temperture wise ONLY, depends on the temperture you set for 2 or 4 zones, it will provide either cool or warm air for each locations but you have to manually turn on filter (if outside air is not so great) or circulation(if you don't want to have outside air at all). I don't see these two buttons function automatically. you have to press them when you need them.

bmw has a circulation button on the steering wheel which is quite convient because you can stop smoke or dirty air quicky without leaving streering wheel. mb owners have to intake more unpleasant air if you cannot press circulation button quickly.

Otto,

Thank you very much for the reply. I remember reading in the manual that as long as the air control is set to automatic, the car will sense poor air quality coming in from the outside and switch automatically to inside air only as long as it is at least 46 degrees outside. This is supposed to work especially going through tunnels.

Thanks
