CDI vs Bluetec Questions

Hello,

I'm looking for a used MB diesel and want to make sure my basic knowledge is right. Feel free to correct me...

1. Inline 6 cylinder diesel engine ("CDI") used through 2006

2. V6 diesel engine ("Bluetec") starting in 2007

3. Urea tank added to Bluetec in...WHAT YR?

4. Upon addition of urea tank, the spare tire was deleted and 'run flat' type tires used

Have I got that right?

Now, a general question about the E sedans...

Are the 'folding' rear seats standard? (That is probably not the correct MB term for the seats but I'm asking about the rear seats that fold forward thereby allowing for a larger 'cargo' area.) If they are NOT standard, are they part of and option pkg (like pkg 1 or 2)? OR, is this usually a separate option?

Thanks,

AMGSpartan

After all my research, the Urea started in 08. I have the 07 package 1, no Urea injection. When I was looking at getting my 07, for whatever reason I did find two that were 08s without Urea as well. I have package 1 and my seats do not fold forward. The 08 I test drove had package 2 and they did not fold either, so it appears the its probably an option. Haven't been an owner for long, I spent about three months researching and trying to find a good CPO diesel. Good luck.

Since this is the W211 (E-class) forum, it should be stated there was NEVER a USA E-class with urea injection. That was just ML, GL, and R-class, and it began with 2009 models. The latter were 50-state compatible, the E-class never was. No runflat tires ever on USA E-class.

I think MB's term is "split folding rear seats (code 287)". It's a separate option. However, if you get any of the following will include 287 - "Panoramic glass sunroof (code 413)" and "Skibag with through-loading facility (code 282)" and "Integrated rear child seats (code 248)". That's my understanding.

Are you not talking about the ISOFIX hooks, from option code 573 (could be standard but still with this code in the data card)?

The European price list states folding rear seat a mandatory option if child seat option (code 248) is selected like mentioned by "anewbie".
