Wheel Offset Question
Wheel Offset Question
Trying to understand the whole offset thing with MB being they are all different with same bolt pattern. My owners manual states my 4matic is 38mm offset, front and rear, where non 4 matics are 30/35 or 30/38 depending on car/options. Now in trying to buy a set of wheels for my car it appears folks are just selling me 4 front wheels breaking up staggered sets, and I am concerned about the 4 wheels all being 30mm offset when mine are 38mm. If I understand correctly that means my wheels will be 8mm farther OUT from the car correct ?? Anyone know if 30mm offset will be ok on my car ?? it's 2007 e550 4matic.
thanks

I just went through this exercise. Stick with 38mm front and rear. Yes, you will need two sets of front wheels. If you don't you may need new lug nuts and you may open yourself up to future transfer case maintenance problems.
