Trailer hitch for E-class

Does anyone on here have a 1.25'' trailer hitch reciever on their E-class? I'm a cyclist and currently use a trunk-mounted bike rack, but want to go with a hitch-style rack so I can use my trunk (and not scratch my paint).

If you have a hitch, will you please post a picture? Also, I've heard a rumor about a foldable/concealable hitch, but haven't seen one or found a part number.

Any help is appreciated.

Folding hitch

I have the folding hitch on my E200 kompressor, but this was a factory fitted option. The hitch has limiter switches that warn the driver when the mechanism is not properly engaged (extended or collapsed). It is manually operated by a telescoping lever from the spare tyre compartment in the trunk. The system is very easy to use. However, I do not know of an after market fitment. The linking with the board computer may possibly be costly. I would not recommend a conventional aftermarket hitch to be attached as the factory version would in my opinion be optimised i.t.o. hinging and connection points to ensure no impediment of the rear crumble zones during a collision.

2006 E-500 wagon , 2000 CLK 430 CAB
I just ordered one today for my 06 E-500 wagon .
It`s going to cost about 450 installed , however there is currently no wiring harness available .
I am going to make up a flat 4 plug to a 12 cig receptical just to provide lights to the trailer . No brake or turn signals. I don`t much like it but it`s better than no hitch at all.

I installed a third party hitch on my e500 several years back. It's been working great.

Refer to the following thread:

https://mbworld.org/forums/1109129-post15.html

Post #15-16 narrate my success with the hitch and provides pics.

The company I bought the hitch from is apparently no longer in business, but, as I recall, u-Haul has a compatible hitch.

GL.

Why not just get a roof top rack? Probably cost you about the same and you would still be able to use your trunk.

I just bought the Curt Hitch #11701 for my 2003 E320, as someone else here suggesed. I installed my self and took only about 45 mins. The hardest thing was to fit it in-between the exhaust tips and the bumper. I didnt even need to lift up the car.

Got the hitch from Amazon for $172 including shipping. I then got a Saris T-Rax Sport Bike rack for $94 online.
