Coolant Leak
I'm about to go out of town (6 h drive) so I'm looking over the engine and notice that the hose clamp on the water hose is looking like it is corroded green. I also notice that the green stain is sitting on the forward part of the oil pan and the backs of the serpentine pulleys. Anybody seen this before and know the cause? Looks like leaking hose but why would it start to leak out of the blue. The car is only 4 years old and only has 50K miles. I am waiting for it to cool off so that I can check the coolant level. Reading the threads it looks like if it is a hose it won't be covered under the extended warranty.

Most likely just needs the hose clamps snugged up. Can't believe you have concerns about a hose being covered by warranty. They are inexpensive.

The hose clamps can't be snugged up. I took it to the dealer and they looked at it and said that they could'nt figure out without taking apart in order to check the pump and would replace the hose ($100 for the part $250 for the total cost of replacement) regardless of whether that was the problem. I went to the parts counter to ask about the hose and learned that there are two o-rings that seal the hose. I suspect that they are the source of the leak which I try replacing to see if that cures it.
