How to replace air pump on W211?
Hi,
I've searched the forum but have not been able to find DIY instructions for replacing the air pump on my E500.
Can anyone tell me how, or maybe tell me exactly where the Air Pump is located in the engine bay?
Thanks,
Todd

The air pump for emissions (not suspension).
I think I learned it is sitting under the black plastic near the front of the engine in the middle. Please correct me if I am wrong, as I have not checked yet.

Yeah, that's the air pump. The front engine cover clips onto it.
Remove'install air pump:
Engine trim panel
Bolt of air pump support to timing case - 12 Nm - Pay attention to ground cable
Air hose
Electric air pump - Unplug electrical connector

Thanks. I've read something about a bad relay burning out air pumps (I guess the pump does not shut off with a bad relay?). Hopefully I don't have that issue.
R&R of this air pump sounds pretty simple. I just changed the rear brakes last weekend on the E500, and that was very simple!
