Nav System for the E 500 Sport
I'm a little confused by this, given that it looks like they are planning on putting them into the new E55's and they have started showing COMAND pre-wiring again on the Netstar invoices for April builds... and that it seems that the April builds for Australia are also getting the new dvd-nav factory installed... if they can start doing the pre-wiring again and are actually shipping units to Australia, it's hard to understand why they would wait until the 2004 model year to do normal E500's to the US with Nav.
I've reached a critical point. Today is supposedly the day the MB dealers get an updated memo. If my sales guy doesn't call me today, I will call him tomorrow. If I can't get an E500 with dvd nav ordered by the end of this week, I'm going to stop pursuing this and get something else... At this point, I believe this is the last week to order an old body-style 540, and BMW won't be rolling out the new 545 until after October. I am running out of alternatives... If I can't get the E500 with nav for this summer, and I miss the window for the v8 Bimmer 5-series (I don't even care whether it's the old style or the new style...) then my last alternative is to get the GS430 now, here in the states, and short term lease a crappy Renault for this summer in Europe... Not looking forward to that. I've done it many times in the past, and the Laguna is not a BAD car, but it is nothing compared to an E500 or a 540/545...

Forgive me for being particular about this, but there has been a lot of confusion on this situation, and MB does not seem to help very much in clarifying any of it.
Are you saying that you purchased and took delivery of your E500 already, and about two months ago, your dealer told you that you would be able to get the new dvd-nav system installed in your car, and now you're being told that it won't be available for any 2003 E500, or are you saying you have ordered a car, yet to be built, and were told (two months ago) that you would get nav in it now...
There's a difference apparently, in exactly when the car hit the assembly line, and what various customers were told and promised, that makes all this a very fine distinction. It seems that they have started building cars for Australia with the new system at the end of March, and that they are pre-wiring (again - at least for the E55) the US-bound cars...
Sorry for being tedious about this...

Hi, I have had my Car since January and they told me at that time that the Nav System was going to be available in March or April but Yesturday I had to go to the Dealership because Apparently the E 500 has a problem on the Gateway System which controls the Stereo , Teleaid , SOS and they had to replace the part but any ways I was told my the General Manager and Service Department that the Nav System has been scratch and will not be available for the E 500 there is a company that can put one in for you but is expensive Nav-tv.com .Let me know if you have any other questions.
E500 Sport Black Jade , Charcoal Interior , ,Moonroof , and fully loaded.

No change on the information I posted a week or so ago regarding the factory installation of COMAND for Australian cars now and retrofit still no problem.
