replacing my 03 E500 with 07+ E350?

Due to an unexpected incident (wife has an accident with our 03 E500 with 40K miles on it) our insurance company declare the car is a right off due to the extend of the damage.

Regardless of the low mileage looks like we are not going to get a lot back from this car and we are looking to purchase an used 07+ E350 or may be E550.

My questions is will I be disappointed switching from a 500 to a 350 in terms of performance wise?

Or should I pitch in more and get a 550 instead? the W212 is out of my price range so most likely we will get another w211.

Thx for any suggestion.

If you can swing it. Get the 07 550. The car will amaze you. Thats how good it is. That being said, the 350 was a great improvement over the 320, & was reasonably close to the old 500 in satisfactory performance. Not neck snapping, but a very good approximation. The 550 is thrilling though... and the 07s are rock solid very pleasing cars. I've had no problems with my 07... My 04 on the other hand...

Couldn't agree more. Get the 550. See my thread: "My 550 Hauls A**"

I've driven all the cars you describe. Without question find and buy at least an 07 E550. You will be HIGHLY disappointed dropping down from 302HP to 268HP but, you will be amazed at the difference stepping up to 382HP from 302HP!
