TPMS Question

I'm putting together a winter setup on 17" and wonder if I should go without spending on additional TPMS sensors. What type of message will I be faced with? Does the message diaspear after a certain amount of time or do I have to clear it everytime I get into the car? Has anybody else done this? After 4 or 5 months am I going to regret not spending the $$$? Looking for your thoughts and opinions. Thanks

You'll get the message constantly and nobody will disable it for you--both because it's a safety system.

Logic would suggest you want this same level of safety all the time.

But, it will for sure cost you. When Congress adds these safety regulations (thanks Explorer/Firestone) you pay.

Are these now mandatory on all US-spec cars?

All cars built 2007 and newer MUST have a tire monitor system (idiot light satisfies law). I believe 2010 now required individual read outs......

I considered not using the sensors, but thought it would be more of a hassle to listen to the damn error everytime I get into the car. Plus, it is just nice to see the tire pressure without going out of the car to check. Not that I am lazy, but if I can just look at it in my dash I would check it more often. I try to be very conscious about vital areas of my car ie. tires, engine, brakes, etc. So, if it is more convenient I will look more often. Plus in the winter when it is 0 out. The dash is warmer then being outside. lol

Mines been disable since the winter. I assume batteries died as right before it crapped out it started sending me red warning lamps of impending doom to both front tires. Pressure was fine.

Since then I get a 'TPMS disabled, drive to workshop' message in white text at every startup and then again randomly mid-drive. It doesn't annoy me enough to get it fixed... at least not until I need new tyres
