Not sure if rearview mirror is dimming
While driving at night the light reflecting from the rearview mirror is too bright. Is there a test to confirm if the mirror is working properly? Or is there a setting that can be adjusted?

Look for the electronic eye on the surface of the mirror. It is a round shadow about the size of the hole on a piece of loose leaf paper. On my 04 it was on the Right side of the mirror. On my 07, it is top center. Cover it with a piece of black plastic electrician's tape but leave a flap so you can remove it easily.
Take the car for a drive, or park in front of another car that has its headlights on at night thats about 100 feet behind you. Notice how bright those headlights are. Pull the tape off rapidly & lower your hand. The mirror reflection should visibly gain a smokey greenish darkened image, and the headlights should appear dimmer almost immediately. Because all of a sudden those headlights will be striking the electric eye on the mirror, the image will darken and lose some of its contrast... all of the image getting darker.
There is no user adjustment to be made. I believe the outside driver's mirror responds to this same electric eye too.
