Intermittent Transmission Problem When Upshifting
2003 E320, 75k miles, 2nd owner, acquired with 13k miles, all service done at dealer.
Just started having an intermittent transmission problem. It gets stuck in 3rd gear and does not want to upshift to 4th. Cluster indicates transmission is in D. I've flipped between S and W, tried to manually shift down to 3rd and then back up, but it stays stuck in 3rd. Have tried staying off gas for a few seconds, jabbing gas pedal, nothing works. Only way to fix is to slow down back to 1st gear and get started again. Has happened 3 times in past couple of days. No dash lights on.
Anyone ever have similar problem and what was fix?

Forgot about that trick even though I posted about it years ago https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...e55-forum.html
Worth a shot, we'll see how it works. Good suggestion!

ECU reset did not fix it, got stuck in 2nd a few times yesterday. I found that if I manually downshift to 2nd while it is stuck there and then upshift it back to D it will move on to the next gear. Going to take it to the shop next week when I have time.
