DVD in Motion: US Comand

Before you say to search. I have all over google and elsewhere. I want a straight up answer if I can do DVD in motion? I can play DVDs right now if I am parked. I tried all buttons and such but nothing....

The following sequence should work on the Euro-version COMAND (I unlocked mine with it and now have DVD capability while the vehicle is in motion).
1) PRESS AND HOLD: MUTE + END CALL + SERV
*After a few seconds the Screen will read : 'WELCOME TO ENGINEERING MODE" (this is the main Menu)
2) PRESS AND HOLD: # + * + <
* This will access the "Secret Menu" (which will appear on the right side of the screen).
3) ACCESS "DR DIST" (Driver Distraction) with the corresponding screen button (on the right)
* Unselect all options, this will release the "Video in Motion"
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Once there, I went into the DR DIST section, and all items already looked as if they were unchecked... weird. So maybe the previous owner took it to a place that did this hook up for him, but I highly doubt it... I will test it this evening with a dvd and post back.
The main thing though was that the 2nd trick menu was hard to get to (how hard could it be to push 3 buttons? Lol not sure but it took a few mins to get it to go)
My 2004 E500 will not read DVDs at all, even MP3s on DVD, but it will play MP3s on a CD, after I updated the firmware on the COMAND. Great, super.
But, my 2005 SL600 does have a DVD ROM, and I've always been able to play MP3s on a DVD. Great, super.
But after reading this thread and a few others that have been bumped recently, I decided to pop in a movie to see what happened. I wasn't expecting anything but an error, but I'll be damned if it didn't load and start playing. Not great, not super. Ahhhh, why you ask? Because it activates the driver distraction feature and blacks out the screen, even though I was parked. But at least I was able to prove the theory that some of these cars do, in fact, possess the ability to read the movie.
None of the backdoor codes get me into the engineering menu. I'm guessing since I updated my map disc with the latest and greatest, I've screwed myself.
Any ideas?
Here's a video. Don't laugh at the beginning. A big *** bug, the size of a small rodent, landed on my hand.

If so, how do I convert mp4 to Divx .... any recommendations?
Lastly, this doesn't do mp3 on dvd..... does it??
What about the 6 disc changer below the single dvd slot - it doesn't do mp3 on dvd either.. how do people get mp3 on dvd to play?

The changer does NOT have DVD optics and can only read CD media. It can/should be able to read MP3 files in ISO-9660 format from CD-R/CD-RW media.
The COMAND slot will give the best experience with MP3s as it formats the filenames better for the display. Newest firmware will also give the best experience.
DVD-R + Mp3 was the first thing I thought of like 15 years ago, after DVD-R burners became available... and now finally.....!

Turns out when you go to burn the DVD there is different formats: ISO, UDF, etc... and usually most of the time DVDs come out in ISO format, especially when using windows 7. These ISO ones will work fine for real DVD movies, but for mp3 format tracks, it needs to burn it in UDF.
I use a program called PowerISO which allows me to have unlimited virtual DVD drives on my computer. It also creates virtual CDs and DVD copies to my harddrive, allowing me to load as many volumes into how ever my virtual drives.
Anyways, in this program, when creating a new volume, I simply select UDF, and make sure that all the mp3s are mp3s - (no thumbs, no jpegs, or other misc files which may carry over from your music folders).
So after this, my UDF mp3 dvd has nearly 1000 mp3s, and sure enough it works like a dream in the command drive! Video on the go + mp3 on dvd=WINNING!
