Does anybody with Panoramic Roof experience popping.cracking
noises during hot weather ? I find this very annoying and at C$ 3000 I find this unacceptable.

I've had the same problem and even creaking of the pano while backing up the driveway. Had the dealer checked it and all they could do was tighten the pano but still the same. Just have to live with it.
My padnuh just bought a '04 E320 with pano roof and the dealer tried to reduce the wind noise coming from the seals (in bewteen the panels). Never could get all the sound out...
He's just living with it.....

We had two pano roofs changed on my wife's car due to noise and creaking. The third one has been better, but the service advisor confessed that given the fact that you have a large piece of glass sitting on the roof of the car, and given that all cars flex a little, even if it is only a touch, you will get noises from time to time with the roof, both during operation and when it is fully closed.
The service advisor at our new dealership tried to sell us a new roof out of warranty, and I declined for this reason-- I think some noise is to be expected, and he was probably just trying to generate business. I find that regularly lubricating the roof guides at each servicing, generally speaking, keeps the roof very quiet. I would suggest that you ask your service department to do the same thing. (The guides can be easily lubed when the roof is open. Use a good synthetic spray, but just a little.) Two mercedes dealers, one in PA and the other in MD, know of this issue so there was probably a bulletin.
I would also offer that for people who are considering this feature, and plan on owning the car and not leasing, you should be aware of the fact that these types of issues can occur -- they are part and parcel of this type of feature on any car -- and if an occasional creak or groan, or noise when the roof opens or closes is going to bother you, opt for the regular sunroof. Again, you have several large pieces of glass, one of which that moves, sitting on top of a stiff, but slightly flexible, structure. Noise is inevitable.
My wife still loves the roof, and she would get it again. Me, I would prefer a standard sunroof given it is less likely to cause problems given how long we own our cars. But it is a personal choice -- just know the pros and cons of the feature going in and you'll be fine.

I am also experiencing noises with my pano roof on my 2003. It creaks and squeaks over bumps. I purchased the slippery fluid that according to one of the TSBs I saw, goes in the rear channels where the roof opens up to. I also bought the sunroof lube and greased the areas that were recommended in the TSB. I tried using silicon spray on all rubber seals and it helped, but only for a short time. Are there any adjustments that should be attempted or is it dealer only? Does anyone have a copy of the P-B-77.20/36a MAY06 TSB?
Thanks,
Steve

I can forward a copy and it may be helpful in diagnosing noise condition(s) by way of the recommended operations for various repair scenarios. However, you will need access to the associated SDS troubleshooting guide for details. If you still want a copy, PM your email address.

Bought the car last august with only 23,650 miles on it. About after 2 months, it started making a sort of "cluncking" sound when backing out of my drive way and when I hit dips. Took it to dealer a couple of months ago and they lubricated something, but it still came back a week later. I've heard many other people with the same problem on this forum.
Service advisor that I took it to who I know through a family member said that it is just a bad design from them and that a lot of them have that problem. Also my dynamic ventilated seats also squeek when I take turns and he said the same thing about that. To think that I expected better from Mercedes Benz
I've learned to deal with it. Actually, I think since I've been using it more the noise has been a little minimized. Interesting. Maybe that goes back to what the same service guy said, "If you don't use it, you lose it".
