Question Regarding Brake Lights

So one of my brake lights is burnt out... I called up MB and I was told that I can't just replace that single burnt brake bulb but rather have to replace the whole board (all bulbs) is that true?

It's LEDs so it's true that you need to replace the whole thing.

03 and 04's are not LED's, but it's true that you will need to replace the entire lamp circuit board/plate. You don't state your car, but if you have airmatic, then you probably will need to remove the air can from the bracket on the passenger side to be able to get into the tight space. Otherwise, it's pretty simple to replace, but tedious as you need to remove a lot of small torx screws holding everything in place.

Thanks guys.

Mine has regular brake lights. However, my back-up system is on and I am thinking of leaving it that way until there is another burnout then just go ahead and replace both boards all at once.

Be careful when you go get your state inspection. You might not pass.

Just FYI 03-04 do have LED tails they were part of the appearance package. Go to parts.com you can find them for under $200 for the whole assy.
