Locking problems
Replaced the watch batteries in the fob. Car still did not respond. Had Cranking battery checked- Only 3.3 volts. Replaced Battery.
Did not resynch anything- In a closed parking garage with no light.
Now.
1. Lock car with fob
Yellow lens flash three times.
Then emergency flashers begin flashing and do not cease. Dome lights stay on.
2. Unlock and everything returns to normal.
I set the alarm off several times, maybe due to locking and unlocking the car repeatedly.
So car drives fine, no FSS displays. But I cannot lock it for any lenghth of time as I fear it will deplete the battery.
Second fob is somehwere in my winter clothes. I may have to find it sooner than I planned.
I also re-programmed the key per the operators manual. So the global unlocking is in play (my preference).
Still no help.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Part needed was "alarm siren"
Apparently it had become defective.
I really suspected the rear SAM but thankfully (I guess)
it proved to be less serious
I buckled and let the dealer install the new part
Said about 20 - 30 minutes work
$210.60 labor I guess that works out to $500-600 / shop hour
$ 150.00 mat
I got a $100 break because they had (incorrectly) diagnosed the problem as a defective key.
So now I have a nice shiny $266 KEY to go along with my defective alarm and a clean car
I really should have just disconnected it until I came to my senses but I figured the car might just collapse without it
Anyway, much thanks to Dan - "Mr Friendly" our resident M-B insider
Once again he was kind enough to point me in another direction
Interesting sidenote. I ordered the key yesterday at 3:00 P.M.
Sent a fax at 6:00 this morning asking to hold order until I could get a STAR diagnosis.
Key was in the dealers parts counter at 10:00 a.m..
I could not fly commercial any quicker
