Fuel Gauge on '08 E550 doesn't work properly, displays wrong level
Hi gents,
I've got an 08 E550 that I bought in June. after the first fill up (where the gas light did come on) the car's gas gauge has not worked properly. I took it into a local dealership for repair, they drove the car about 100 miles over the weekend and gave it back to me, saying they believed a firmware re-flash fixed it.
I discovered the problem after running out of gas on a freeway on ramp...
example of the issue:
at empty, it shows a range of 50mi and 1/4 a tank remaining
after 220-240mi, shows 3/4 tank remaining.
Anyone run into this problem with another 07-09 E-Class? any advice? i could definitely use some feedback before making a second appointment to address the issue.
Thanks all!

Mines had similar issues, the dealer found out that one of the pins of the connector were plug into the wrong spot. Reading accurate ever since the fix. Let me know if u want more info on it.

Hey Arash, sorry I took awhile to get back. Well here is what ti says on my invoice on what the tech did.
Customerstates that fuel gauge is not reading correctly, came by the other day, gauge showed close to emply. maybe 3 lines. low fule light was not on. does not go all the way to full when filled either. Verified comoplaint,. perform short test,. code 2225 stored in me 9.7 code 9134 stored in instrument cluster. tested fuel level sensor 1 as per electical test on sds. Found bl/blk wire pin 6 and bl/pnk wire pin 7 in wrong location in connector at fuel tank. Removd terminals from connectors and put bl/blk wire terminal in pin 7 location. bl/pnk wire terminal in pine 6 location. erased codes. fule gauge reads properly.
Hopes this helps and if you need a hard copy of it for your service advisor, juet le me know.

Alright, problem resolved. The second dealer here in the DFW metroplex did a great job (without driving my car some ridiculous # of miles).
Replaced the right and left sending units in the fuel tank, problem solved. the only problem is, now I can actually see how much gas my e550 drinks...
Thanks for all the feedback and help!
