Fuel consumption too high? E320 s211

I'm a "new" owner(since 2months) of a E320T from 2003.
Car runs great but I think it's a bit thirsty compared to my old E280(98).

urban driving is about 15MPG and highway driving(if I drive very smooth) is about 25-26MPG

Is this normal? If not, what should be checked? MAF defective or broken?

Sounds about right for a 3.2L V6 w/ a 5pd transmission.

I think my friend's E350 w/ the 7spd gets a little better than this.

Seems low to me. Summer mileage for me is closer to 23 city, 28 highway. I have seen as much as 34 on a 50 mile 65mph highway drive. Winter mileage is about 10% less with the winter gas available in New Jersey.

My car is well-broken in with just over 255,000 miles.

When was the last time the car had a tune-up? Did the car come with any maintenance records? I would check to see when the fuel filter was done, also basic items such as spark plugs, air filter, oil and filters change.
