Just had brake pads and rotors replaced; also, brake fuild flush. had told the service advisor (supposedly reputable independent facility that specializes in german cars; however first time i have used this place) about having to fill some power steering fluid a while back due to steering wheel grinding only when engine was cold. adding p/s fuid eliminated the grinding problem.
During the brake job, service advisor called to tell me that the tech working on my car found a p/s leak - says p/s pump needs replaced; also, maybe p/s pressure hose. leak in hose is uncertain and cannot be detected unless wiped clean and p/s pump job is underway.
called the dealership to get a 2nd opinion (just phone) - service advisor stated p/s pump leak is very rare and he cannot remember having to replace a pump; greater possibility of a leaky seal.
Any experience with the issue described above? Wonder if the inde facility just wants to make money?? Their mark-up on products is crazy high. Advice and opinions will be much appreciated.
Thanks so much.
