Airmatic going bad?

Weird thing happened to me today (Saturday 11am). It was a nice day and I took the scenic route to Riverside by taking Ortega Highway. When I got to 15 freeway, I noticed that I was lopsided and the car pulls to the left. My dash started saying I have to "visit the workshop" or something so I stopped expecting the worst. I went around the car and saw that my rear passenger side wheel was slammed/ tucked all the way in the wheel well. I tried raising the car and it didn't respond. I was debating if I should call AAA but I took a chance and drove 12 miles to my parent’s house in Riverside.

My car is lowered via links and Star. One finger gap all the way around at the lowest setting. My airmatic was in "comfort setting" when I drove through the twist & turns of Ortega. I thought maybe that caused my airmatic to fail. Since the service department of the dealership where I go to is closed, I planned on taking my car in on Monday.

I didn't touch my car the whole day. After watching the Pacquiao fight, I checked on my car. I started my car and tried raising my car. Still no response whatsoever. I was about to give up when I thought of maybe raising the rear passenger side with a jack. Since it was so low, I used the factory jack. I raised the wheel all the way up so it’s not touching the ground and I started the car again and raised the car. I heard the pump working and the wheel moved a little about 10-15mm. While the engine was running, I lowered car back down to the ground. To my disappointment, the wheel was tucked in again like before. It didn’t work! I was about to give up again when I heard the pump working. I started to see the car go up 10mm, then another 10mm, them another. I was praying for it not to stop until it was back to its normal level. I checked the other side and they are now even. I test drove it around the block, lowered & raised the car two more times and it’s working again. I decided to drive back home in Orange County and the airmatic is back to normal again. No more issues! Sorry for the long story but can somebody explain what happened? Is my Airmatic going bad? Since my car is lowered, not using Stage I or II settings driving fast through the twist & turns of Ortega highway caused it to fail? This is not the first time this happened. Some mornings, my car is slammed on both rears but as soon as I started the car, it goes up. Weird!!!

Trouble's coming. One day it won't get up. Methinks you should have someone look at your airmatic system without delay...

Get it looked at. One of my airmatic shocks went. They had to replace both. Car still under warranty, so I saved $3K.

The air bladders do go out periodically. I just had the dealer replace my driver's side rear air bladder.

Would this repair be covered under the extended warranty?

Yes, if it's an MB warranty, for sure.
