I have a 03 E500, and seems to dum gears all the time.
It seems to shift to soon and then bucks a bit like it was a manual in the wrong gear.
Has anyone else had a problem with the shifting on a E500

I have noticed a slight surging if I am in stop and go traffic. It seems the tranny gets a little confused. Only happens once in a great while so I'm not too concerned.
Also, if I am accelerating kinda quick and quickly release the accelerator, you can catch the trans between gears and it seems to buck, similar to a bad shift on a manual. Just messing with the computer, I guess. If it happens all the time it will probably throw a fault code and the dealer will see it on the service visit. Good luck!

2003 MB E500
The thing I've noticed is a sudden hard accleration starting from a stop or a low speed causes my car to delay shifting running up the tach to about the red line. If I let up on the gas a little, the car quickly shifts. Maybe it is programmed to delay the shift under hard accleration until the red line is reached.
