Coins

Just getting acclamated to my new car and I'm perplexed about coins. I've had nice coin storage devices in all previous cars but can;t seem to locate one on my 2007 E550. Am I missing something or has anyone figured out a creative way/place to store them?

They only give you 8 minutes of parking for each quarter in Washington DC so I need to keep a bunch of quarters handy at all times!

Someone has suggested that the louvre looking thing on the right side of the interior glove compartment is a coin holder (for European coins). I keep a very small rubbermaid snap lid type container in the console. There's always the little drawer if you don't overfill it or mind the jingle.

I'd rather not have loose change as they make noise and the sunglass compartment would have been perfect but my sunglasses go there. I'll find a small bag to put the coins in...

I guess the Germans figured they can either give us cup holders or a coin compartment in the middle compartment and they decided to go with the cup holders

The very best coin holder (container) I've found for use in my vehicles is a 35mm film container. The lid closes tightly and will hold a whole bunch of quarters and other coins too. It's compact and can fit in many small spaces and no noises of the coins can be heard.

Been using them for years.....

Not sure if your model year does this but in my 2010 E550 I can remove the ashtray and underneath is a perfect coin holder.

I believe there is an OEM rubber insert that fits in to the ashtray spot that would help the situation. Anyone have the PN?

Don't use the sunglass holder for coins. It will jam at some point. Ask me how I know And I sure don't have enough money in there to warrant the costs that the dealer wants to open it up.

I didn't even know coin meters were still in use. All we have here is Pay-to-Park boxes that take your CC.
