Pix of lowered with 18"?

Getting tired of replacing my 19" tires every few months, I'm thinking about getting 18" instead... anyone have pix of their cars with 18's?

don't look to bad, I think I can live with that shaving 35% between 18 and 19's good trade off in this economy.

I'm a little slow, so can you help me understand something? You say that you're tired of replacing your 19" tires every few months (which in and of itself seems crazy to me....as I don't quite understand what you're doing to make your tires wear out within a few months). But what I'd really like to know is, how will reducing the diameter of your tires (from 19'"to 18") help them to last longer? Not trying to be a smarta$$ here either...honestly, I'm interested. Cheers, TJ

I'm not reducing camber wear, I'm just reducing the cost of replacing my tires each time. I get around 11k miles on each set of tires (4matic) when I replace them, it's all 4. I average 3k miles a month, I get about 4 months on each set, in a year I replace 3 sets of tires at the cost of around 800 a set, that's $2400 a year. 18" tires can be had for around $500 a set, that's a cost saving of $900 a year, if I really wanna crunch it and get cheap tires I can probably get them for $400/set now we're talking $1200 a year in savings. My car is a commuter so at this point, $1200 on camber kits is not an option especially it's at 120k miles already.

Ok thanks.

I mean no disrespect here...and call me old, but I guess I've never quite understand the allure of lowering vehicles. Folks spend lots and lots of money on these lowering kits, and what they get in return is a harsh ride, a vehicle that scrapes the under carriage on speed bumps (or when entering curbed driveways), and an altered camber that wears tires out quickly.

Then to add insult to injury, many will not only lower, but also increase the size of the wheels/tires. So, they get the added bonus of tires rubbing the frames when they turn, and increased cost (due to larger size) when it comes time for tire replacement.

But alas, it looks cool...and I'm guessing that is, in a nut-shell, the allure. 11,000 on a set of tires seems absolutely mind boggling to me. But hey, I'm an old man (42), and am certainly NOT cool.

Cheers, TJ

You don't have to be young to lower your car. LOL I'm not far behind you but I've always lowered my car, there are other benefits beside the looks when you lower your car. When done correctly, it won't have bad tire wears as these benz does. We just never had the aftermarket supports as the imports do and everything about these cars cost as much as some of the other imports entire car. LOL Lowering the center gravity makes the car handles much better in corners (not like a 42 year old would be ripping the corner doing 80mph) .
