SRS Restraint System Defective msg ? any help

Hi every body i start getting the above msg on my dash with SRS lights on ?

this happened to me after my mechanic had replaced my A/C Refrigerator which was having gas leaks - of course he had remove the whole dash and fix it back again - everything works perfectly except this msg and the ref SRS lights on the dash.

Is this a common problem ? and what can i do to fix it ?should i check fuse box for example ??

We had tried to restart the car computer more than one time but the msg still on.

Kindly advice me if someone got the same problem cause i have to warranty and dealer will take a lot of $$$.

by the way my car is E-240 model 2004

It could be a shorted wire on maybe your door. Plug it in and see what codes your car throws out, it should tell you what wire.

Oh and i received a letter in the mail about this and it is covered by an MB dealership and you dont have to pay lol

It's impossible to know unless you check for codes with an SDS at the dealer. There are almost a hundred or more different codes, and and single one that's current will turn on the SRS malfuction light.

I had the same issue. It turned out that my rear seatbelts were jammed and needed to be repaired or replaced. I chose to repair it. Costed $200 for the two belts.

Clearing codes would not fix the problem that caused the warning. Unless your mechanic turned ignition on while some SRS sensors or actuators were disconnected when he was replacing the evaporator.

sorry i didnt get back, no emails.
You can get a reader or let a place like pep boys check. It'll tell you what door, they can even delete the code, as long as there are not the actual airbags
