My v-6 hold 8.5 quarts and I BELIEVE the factory fill spec is 8 quarts on the regular V-8
Sounds wrong intuitively but I think I am right. Anyway, at this point in the engine life, warranty is not really an issue. I believe that MY2003 has a schedule for standard oil and filters (my FSS does). Oil is like religion and music, dangerous ground. I bet you already have a product in mind and I would not try to talk you out of it. These long interval oils are expensive and the selection (in the states) is limited. Personally, I run high zinc stuff like Rotella and Delvac in my older vehicles. The claim is that diesel oils contaminate cat converters but I see no evidence of it. If you decide to abandon the factory recomendations, you have to come up with your own schedule. Lots of people are into testing. I do not see how you can refute a laboratory analysis but some peple do not want to be confused with facts.
