I realize at least one of these questions has been asked previously, but I could get no definitive answer from MBUSA when I called them. Thought someone out there with their ears to the rail of the rumor mill might have some "better" information.

1) When is it likely that the 4MATIC version will be available in the United States? I see that it is not yet available in Europe, either.

2) Why are the Designo editions not available in the 4MATIC, or for that matter, why are the Sport editions not available for the 4MATIC? Just because a good chunk of us 4MATIC aficionados live in the frozen hinterland of the midwest doesn't mean that we wouldn't want a more "jazzy" version of a great car.

Because of the unknown availability of the W211 4-Matic the demand for the W210 4-Matic has increased. My dealer says that the 4-Matic models especially the wagons are in extremely high demand. In order to get a E55 my dealer had to swap one hard to find car for another. The other dealer needed a 4-Matic wagon before they traded the E55. Hopefully my E55 - Coming soon.

I spoke with my dealer 2 days ago. We had almost given up on finding it. He says he has a 2002 E55/Silver/Charcoal/Comand/K2b with my name on it in New Jersey. He has to give up his hard to find E-Class 4Matic Wagon to get it. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
