How much wheel spin with traction control

How much wheel spin should I get on my 2003 E55 with the traction control on? I keep reading posts about traction issues on the E55. However, when I stomp on it at a red light, I always get a small amount of spin and a chirp, but not really what I would consider to be a traction problem. The car pulls strong, but I'm wondering if I should be getting more spin and if my car is running properly. My tires are new: BF Goodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S (ultra high performance all-season).

GibbieGibbs, check out a thread I started just a few days ago about traction issues on my E550.

Have you done a 0-60 test? That should give you some info.

Traction control "ON" on our cars is quite a bit of "computer intervention" so your traction control is probably working very well plus the grip from brand new tires.

No, I haven't run any 0-60 or qtr mile tests yet. Definitely something I want to do, but will need to wait for it to warm up and the tracks to open back up.

As mention, most times the computer intervention is so drastic that you would get better 60 ft times by feathering it yourself. My SLK32 would do 13.00-13.25 with traction control but the best times were with the control off and me feathering it to a best of 12.80 quarter

Sounds about par, nothing wrong with yr car. The amount of spin and the degree of electronic intervention will obviously depend on how much grip's available. Even a sprinkling of sand can leave my 55 floundering until it finds some grip, at which point it hauls hard for the horizon.

I also assure you that what you refer to as a 'small amount of spin and a chirp' only seems so from inside and appears considerably more aggressive from outside.

Brgds
