interior air intake for A/C

20007 E350
Does anyone know where the interior air intake is for recirculate mode of the A/C. I know where the exterior air intake is.

Lower instrument panel on passenger side (blower), actuator motor for fresh/recirculated air flaps located above on AC housing.

What's your take on this?

Konig. Should the A/C system always be drawing fresh air thru the cabin filter intake unless the recirculation button is on? When I press recirc I don't think mine switches form fresh to recirc. I think is is the case becasue I removed the cabin filter and when I switch back and forth from fresh to recirc the fan in the intake where the cabin filter is always off and block by the rotating black plastic shield that closes it.

The only time the air is drawn thru the cabin filter intake is when I have the A/C switched off but the fan on.

What do you think?
