E550 showing top off coolant message
So last week the NOVA area got a nasty snow storm smack in the middle of rush hour. It took me 7 hours to get home from a normal 45 minute ride. I did not go over 5 mph for the entire trip and traffic sat still for 2-3 hours at a time. Coincidently, after that nightmare, my check oil level and top off coolant messages both came on. Do you think the 7 hours of sitting in traffic had anything to do with this or is it just a coincidence? I'm reading that the car should never need a coolant top off and that this message basically means there is a leak or something? Is this true? I bought a gallon of the MB coolant and before I top it off, do I need to mix it 50/50 or is it already mixed? I've added the Mobil 1, now need to top off coolant. If that message comes back on, I guess I gotta take it to my indy mechanic

Thank you for your reply. So you didn't use the OEM Mercedes coolant? Did you do a 50/50 mix or just add the coolant straight from the bottle?

I've NEVER had to add coolant over the lifetime of my 2 211s, (1st time that's happened in over 40 years of driving) so my unopened 2004 bottle is put away deep in the garage or I'd take a look at the label for you.
