E320 Transmission Dipstick
Hi Everyone:
Im a newbie, but have been so thankful this website exists. I have seen alot of posts on the 5 speed 722.6 tranny and I'm now going to perform the ol filter and oil change, but have a question. Usually the domestic trannies want you to check the level after warming up and idling in park. I have attached a photo of the 722.6 dipstick end that shows 80C on warm high scale and 25c on cold end. Since we know that ATF expands when warm, Im under the impression the level should show near the 25C reading when cold and near the 80C when warm. History of this car (service records) indicate that the torque convertor was replaced about 11K ago and after checking the fluid level while warm with engine off, the fluid level shows above the 80C mark and about 5-7 mm on the metal of the stick. I thnk the level is too high, please feel free to make any comments and suggestions. The tranny is not having any shifting problems at this time.
thanks
