Just updated Nav system-question
I just updated my nav dvd in my 06 E500 from the 06 dvd to version 9.0. When I turned the Command unit on it began to update. After a minute or so, the unit appeared to do a reboot and then restarted.
The system appears to be working--POIs, roads, maps etc. Now my question--do I have to update the Command firm ware? I have read a lot of posts that refer to a necessary Command firm ware update or updates. My command does show the ETA for my destinations, and I can play mp3s.
No I can't watch DVD movies--lol. Any help suggestions would be appreciated.
PS If I need the updates where can I get them?

i updated my 06 w/the newest as well. At first it would work and then an error message would come on. After a few days, it worked and no error. I didnt update any firmware and its been 4months since i used the newest DVD

When you placed your v9 map DVD into the drive the drive checks its own firmware against the firmware that comes with each map DVD. If it needs to be updated it will do right then. That's what saw on your COMAND screen with the 2 progress bars.
If you would need to use a special tools CD to update the nav drive's firmware you would receive an error message on your COMAND.
If you updated your COMAND firmware with the latest version then Video in Motion has been disabled. That's why you can't watch DVDs anymore when driving faster than 5 mph. But I see you're in PA. I'm planning a trip to the east coast with my SDS in my luggage. I could enable your VIM on your Euro COMAND again if you want.
