My W211 arrived today
After a serious car accident on 01/30/11 I replaced my 06 Volvo XC70 with a 06 E500 4matic wagon. 1-owner, Silver/grey, GPS-SAT radio, bi-xenon, dealer maintained, no accidents. Here are pictures of the dead XC70:

It was. 4 broken ribs, smashed spleen, fractured ankle. I have 7 screws and a plate in the ankle. 1 week in hospital and way too many needles, IVs, etc.... glad to be alive though. My best friend was shotgun and suffered 2 cracks in pelvis plus surgery on intestines. He's up and walking this week and recovering slowly like myself.

So sorry to hear about your accident and glad to hear you and your friend are recovering well. Hope you completely recover before long. How well do you think think the Volvo XC70 protected you and your friend? I am thinking about purchasing an XC90 as a second car.

The SIPS (side airbags) saved my head/neck and probably my life. My ribs were VERY close to puncturing my left lung. Get one. They are safe even at 70+mph wall impacts.

You were lucky, the car doesn't look that bad. But it's not so much the car, its the passengers getting toss around inside the car, were most injuries occur. Glad that you and your friend are okay.

The car is bad. Twisted front end and floor board pushed up causing the driver seat to move left. The LF wheel, axle, strut, etc.. flew out of the chassis. Hitting a concrete overpass foundation at 70+mph is rough.

Black ice on right hand turn on highway. Clear and dry out. Rear end spun out and LR tire blew (see pic) Obviously I locked my right leg on the brake pedal in a panic and that contributed to the fractures. I dont remember anything but waking up in the ER. That's a good thing.
